INTERVIEW WITH STITCH
BE: what do you wanna be doing in 10 years time. Stitch: Hopefully doing the exact same thing we are doing now, just on a larger scale, and living in bigger houses. BE: How do you feel about signing with Universal Records? Stitch: I think it was a great move for Mushroomhead, the band has been busting it's ass nonstop for almost 9 years now and Universal Records is really going to take Mushroomhead to the next level.. I think Universal has done a great job so far at making things happen for the band. BE: Since the signing with Universal Records what or if anything has changed? Stitch: Well the band itself hasn't changed at all. The only thing that has changed is that we are on a major label now that is providing a lot more promotion than we ever recieved before, had us film an MTV video, and will be keeping us busy with touring pretty much the rest of the year. BE: If you could pick any band from any time period to tour with who would it be, and why? Stitch: Mindless Self Indulgence, just to name one. Myself and a few other guys in Mushroomhead highly enjoy that band. They are great musicians yet funny as hell at the same time...I love that shit. BE: What song on "XX" do you think represents Mushroomhead the best in 2002? Stitch: Well most people will say "Solitaire/Unraveling" cause it is the first single off the album and theres a video on MTV for it as well. "Solitaire/Unraveling" represents the band well I think, it shows the heavy as well as the melodic sides of Mushroomhead. I've always felt that "These Filthy Hands" would do well as a single too. BE: Are you guys working on any new material? Stitch: We recently finished "Along The Way" for the upcoming movie soundtrack "The Scorpion King", which comes out in March I believe. Theres also a handfull of ideas for new songs that are floating around that will be completed soon as well. BE: Mushroomhead must have a lot of concert footage... any chance that we will see a Mushroomhead dvd/vhs homevideo anytime soon? Stitch: We hope to have something out soon, when that will be I dont know exaclty. BE: How has the band changed since the self titled cd? Stitch: Well the look is probably the most obvious change the band has made, Mushroomhead is always revamping its look and trying new things to keep it fresh. The current look is probably the most "together" image yet, and the most serious. Musically I think the band has gotten a lot stronger, but still keeping the initial sound and style of Mushroomhead. BE: What are you currently listening too? Stitch: Tomahawk (New Mike Patton project) -Hocico "Odio Bajo El Alma" -VNV Nation "Burning Empires" BE: What do you think of the current music scene? Stitch: Depends on what scene your asking, as far as the local Cleveland scene I think that its really on the rise and your going to see more bands make it outta here in the future. Bands like; Crossfader, Runt, 13 faces, HRH, (216), and many others have high potential to make an impact. BE: Well I guess thats it, have any any last minute comments? Stitch: Look the fuck out cause starting February 21st its on. We're hitting the road with Lamb of God, Five Point O, and Eighteen visions opening. BE: Thanks Stitch! |
